Intranet
The Intranet application’s goal is to make the interaction between users easier and faster.
It was conceived considering that the users are employees of a company grouped by different departments, their customers, even their subcontractors. It is a web-based application which enables the users to connect to the application from any Internet-enabled PC. The focus is on sharing and communicating different information between the users.
It is a module-based application that can be easily extended to include new modules and to integrate external systems. A base module of the application is the User Management module which includes also the Rights Management. The user management is role-based providing the highest possible flexibility.
The current modules of the application are:
Forum: a discussion forum provided to the users in which different issues can be easily discussed.
Time Registration: a module designed to track each employee’s activities, their involvement into projects, cost tracking (per employee, per role, per project, etc.). It also provides reporting capabilities, including basic reports which can be easily filtered to provide the needed information.
Book Management: the name describes the module. It is intended to keep track of the information resources of a company. It can track the list of the books of the company, to which employee it is borrowed. A notification engine is included to notify the employees which forget to return the borrowed books on time. To be up-to-date with the book needs of the employee the module contains a proposal list. This list consists of books proposed by the employees to be bought. Any employee can add books to this list. The management of books also includes e-books, which can be accessed directly through the Book Management module.
Issue Tracker: a module developed mainly for software development companies. It can track the bugs and issues found in software product through the lifecycle of it, including any number of releases. Every useful data is stored about the bugs, including reporter, severity, priority, version found, version fixed, description, etc. The module also provides the needed information in reports, which can contain the bugs found & fixed between versions, the number of bugs found for each developer, etc.
The application is based on .Net technology, it uses the ASP.Net. The framework and all of the modules were developed using C#, but the modules can be developed in any .Net language. The persistent layer is built upon the XPO Persistent Layer framework provided by DevExpress and is optimized for Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
